The Working American Bulldog by Dave Putnam was the first book that gave me an insight of the different types of American Bulldogs. In this book you get history of how the American Bulldog went from one type to the two different types we have now; the Standard (Scott Type, Performance Type) and Classic (100% Johnson, Johnson Type, Bully). You will also find pictures of American Bulldogs that are the foundation of many breeders and most probably in your dogs pedigree.

These 2 books are written by Dr. Dieter Fleig in Germany and published by Kynos Verlag, they were best sellers entitled KAMPFHUNDE I and KAMPFHUNDE II which literally means Fighting Dogs I and Fighting Dogs II. TFH publications, published the translation by William Charlton and changed the names to more accurately describe the 2 books. These are a must for collectors and for the real diehard collector the original publications would compliment the translations.

Dr. Dieter Fleig is a world authority on everything pertaining to dogs and has been an integral part of the global dog fancy for over fifty years. The Technique of Breeding Better Dogs, goes step-by-step to clarify and explaining the works of heredity, sexual physiology, mating, pregnancy, whelping, puppy rearing, socialization and numerous other important aspects of dog breeding.

This book is a great book to own it is written by Robert Jenkins and Ken Mollet, no one can deny the admiration of the bulldog world wide, many breeds still claim to being the "real Bulldog". The World of Fighting Dogs, written by Dr. Carl Semencic gives us an insight as to the origins of some of the most popular dogs of today. Dog aggression is not one to be taken lightly and even though this book give stories and even shows some pictures of dogs fighting (something I deeply condemn) it gives the newbie to this breed an insight to the psychology and genetic build up of these type of dogs.
